Blustery conditions didn't put off any one with a 100% turnout by those who had entered. The wind chill meant a comfortable racing temperature, but not quite so comfortable for support crew, team members, and marshals!
A strong head wind from the start of the cycle leg made tough going but meant a nice downwind ride on the way home. Despite the gusty wind on the lake, there were no capsized kayaks; the only exception being one team paddler over-enthusiastically trying to tag his runner! The run down Bethells Beach on the last leg of the race was quite unusual this year with a very strong offshore wind pelting sand around.
Phill's delicious pumpkin soup was enjoyed by competitors and support crews afterwards, and those who stayed for prizegiving at 2pm were well rewarded thanks to our generous sponsors. Andrew Turnbull and Hannah Lowe won the individual multisport race, while 'No I in Team' (Mathew Merrick, Martin de Bock, Daniel O'Brien) won the teams section. Kevin Wright walked away with the major spot prize of an Epson printer worth $300!
We'll be back for 2012 - Will you?
