Superdune Multisport & Off-road Run Race 2009

24th Anniversary

One of New Zealand's oldest events, the Superdune is back on the calendar for 2009, bigger and better than ever before.

Bigger

Considering the incredible potential of Bethells Beach as a venue, the organising committe decided to move away from the traditional one course format and change the concept to grow towards becoming more of an adventure sports festival. This fits in perfectly with the intention of making next year's 25th Anniversary a weekend to remember.

So in 2009 there are now 4 different courses to choose from (2 disciplines).

The classic 65km multisport race will always remain the mantle piece.

This event consists of a 42km road cycle, 10km kayak and 10km run and is open to individuals and relay teams.

NEW TO 2009: 3 DIFFERENT OFF-ROAD RUN COURSES, 5KM - 10KM - 21KM

        5km Fun Run or Walk

Ideal for those new to off-road running or those who just want to soak up the atmosphere and amazing Bethells scenery without breaking into too much of a sweat.

    10km Superdune Run

Following the same course as the run leg of the multisport race, this is a fantastic run offering a variety of terrain including big ol' sand dunes (it is the SUPERdune after all), river crossings and single track. Oh, and did we mention the views?

21km Bethells Off-road Half Marathon

This one's for the serious off-road runners or those who just want to give themselves a bit extra to chew on. Has all that's on offer at the shorter courses plus some decent hill climbing and some fantastic tracks through pine forrest. A good section of this run is on private land so this is your unique opportunity to run through this part of the Bethells Beach area.

Better

Based on the feedback we received after last year's event we have changed the order for the multisport race.

The 2009 multisport race will still start with the 42km road cycle but will now be followed by the 10km kayak. The final 10km run will loop competitors from Lake Wainamu back to the finish line at the reserve. This way, supporters and crew will be able to make it back from the lake in time to welcome their warriors home.

Entries to the 2009 Superdune are open and we are already tracking well ahead on last year so ENTER NOW and come be part of what will be one super day out on the wild west coast.
